High-ranking visitors were at the Bilingual Grammar School Oberwart on May, 20 2025. The ambassadors of the Repulic of Slovenia, Aleksander Gerzina, and the the Republic of Croatia, Daniel Glunicic, continued their initiative to visit bilingual institutions of Croatian and Slovenian communities. This was the first time that their programme was extended to all ethnic groups of the Burgenland.
The president of the Croatian cultural association (HKD) and Chairman of the advisory board of the Croatian ethnic group, Josef Buranits, coordinated this visit. Martin Kerstinger, Secretary-General of the HKD, was also present. The delegation was welcomed by Headmistress Iris Zsoter and Superintendent Judit Makkos-Kaldi. Musical performances like the song "Marijana" and Hungarian folk dance inspired our guests very much.
Attila Somogyi, teacher and Chairman of the advisory board of the Hungarian ethnic group took part in important talks about specific requirements concerning the legal adaption of a bilingual school system in daily life.
